Spraycan Protest: Stencil Graffiti in Greece - 2017
An exhibit "Devil's Dolls" held at Atelier ARTACTA in Moabit-Berlin in July, 2017. The exhibit shows stencil graffiti voicing protests – voices of warning – from Greece, taken in March 2017. Already drawn to stencil graffiti, Athens, Chania and primarily Heraklion proved rich grounds to explore. The stencils reflect the tensions in Greece and across the globe. With messages ranging from satirical to threatening, a Clockwork orange world with big brother watching, cries for help, warnings of the future? They are voices of today trying to get their word out – while perhaps also saying Fuck You to those who already disagree with their message and methods. “Whatever you vote, I'm always here” … who is telling who in that Heraklion graffiti? Who's the Devil's Doll? something is winding them up.....
